Simplifying Wellness With Simply Shakera
Greetings Dear Readers <3
As we move into the second quarter of the year, I find myself reflecting on all that has taken place so far—both seen and unseen. The first few months of 2025 have been a season of grounding, rebuilding, and readjusting. I’ve taken a step back from social media, not out of absence, but out of intention. This time away has been dedicated to reconnecting with myself, strengthening my relationship with God, and gaining further clarity on how I want to move forward with Simply Shakera. More than ever, I feel aligned with my purpose and excited about what’s to come. The foundation is being strengthened, and I’m stepping into this next phase with renewed energy and focus.
Q1 has been filled with transformation. I’ve had moments of joy, moments of learning, and moments that challenged me to reassess how I want to show up in the world. While some victories were visible, others were deeply personal. Whether big or small, every experience has contributed to my growth, and I’m grateful for it all.
Some of the most memorable moments from this quarter include:
The Carnival Spice Black History Month tour: where my team presented Afro-Caribbean dance showcases across southern Ontario. Waterloo, Bradford, Burlington, Hamilton and more, for brands such as Amazon, The City Of Toronto, and William Osler Hospital. What most most memorable for me was the children! We had the amazing opportunity to facilitate programming for well over a thousand students.
Maintaining My Health Journey: Oftentimes when reaching certain health goals, we slowly return to past habits that aren’t good for us. Proud that I have continued to prioritize my health and take daily action towards strengthening my mind, body and soul. Some of my current non-negotiables: 5k steps per day (will increase to 10k as the weather warms up), monthly lymphatic massage or acupuncture, and daily supplementation of L-Glutamine, Magnesium and Cod Liver Oil.
Tomorrow, March 28th, 2025 is Carnival Spice’s 12th anniversary.
Simple at-home hacks to improve wellness: recently I had the wonderful opportunity to share “Simplifying Wellness” with the world during my fitness segment on Global News Morning. Below I share a bit more about that experience.
One of the biggest highlights of Q1 was the opportunity to film with Globals News Morning. This experience was a powerful reminder of how preparation meets opportunity. It was a full-circle moment that reaffirmed the importance of trusting the process and staying ready for what’s meant for me. Thank you to the lovely team for having me. The experience was quite refreshing! Being on set is one of my favourite things. Although it’s been A MINUTE since I’ve done a live interview in the studio, it still felt like home. The best surprise was being interviewed by Ross Hull. If you were a YTV Kid like me, then Chris Sheppard from Student Bodies was one of your favourite TV characters!!!!
The outfit I’m wearing is head to toe Knix:
Catalyst Front Zip Sports Bra
HiTouch™️ High Rise Legging
Crosscourt Fitted Jacket

~Looking Ahead to Q2 ~
With so much already in motion, I’m stepping into Q2 with intention, creativity, and an open heart. There’s still so much to learn and create, and I can’t wait to share more of this journey with you all.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”
Jeremiah 29:11 is a beautiful reminder that as you move forward in growth and alignment, even into the unknown, God’s plan is already in motion for your good. Here’s to continued growth, alignment, and the beautiful unknown that lies ahead. Let’s keep building!
